Feeding the Garter Snake & Ribbon Snake
In the wild their diet consists of many items, fishes, frogs, toads, salamanders, earthworms, slugs, and soft bodied insects. In captivity most are fed fish, earthworms and pinkies. It is recommended to supplement their diet with some vitamins added on and in their food. If you house more than one Garter snake or Ribbon snake together, do not feed them together. This will result in fighting for food and you may end you with one snake eating the other. If on a diet of fish and earthworms, feed on a schedule of every 2-3 days. If you have trained your snake to eat pinkies, then a 6-7 day schedule is better.
